It was my first time photographing at Beth Yeshurun. That tends to make clients a bit nervous when I have never photographed at their location before. Logically though there is/was a first time for every place I have ever shot in. My professionalism and skill never decreases though.
Judi and Roger’s ceremony was perfect and went without a single glitch. Their reception was held at the Houston’s historic Rice Hotel in The Crystal Ballroom. Just breathtaking.
Enjoy.

Katy and Joshua found me here and were without a doubt some of my favorite clients to date. They were so kind and so generous. And their wedding was out of this world! I don’t fully understand what Joshua does for a living, but I do understand that it involves professional stage lighting.
At their wedding they had a crew of workers install lighting everywhere. And I mean everywhere! In every tree, under every bridge, and even in the middle of the lake. The West Lake Club will never look that amazing again.
It was beautiful. I do have to admit that it really challenged me when creating my images. Without my years of experience in photography, I don't think that I could have pulled this one off as well as I did.
If you would like to see them, here is Katy's Bridal Session and their Engagement Session as well.

From her Bridal Portrait to her reception. Elegance. In a word, that is really the best way to describe here choice of facilities as well. The Corinthian is by far one, if not the finest location in Houston to have your wedding.

Carrie found me on The Knot just about a year before her wedding. They chose The Resurrection Lutheran Church in Spring as their ceremony location, and their reception was held at Shirley Acres. I can say one thing for Carrie though. She sure did have great color coordination during her event.
Enjoy.

Laura and Will’s wedding was a beautiful event, and as you can see from their album, Laura has enough charisma for both of them!
Their services was held at Memorial Dr. Baptist Church in Piney Point, and the reception hall was the famous Houston Country Club. Jacket required.
Enjoy.

Christina and Coby were married late last year. I have been going back and forth on the design of their album for some time, and I have finally come up with the perfect design. In fact, it is due back from my binder early next week.
The flow of the images will show you Cristina and her Bride’s Maids getting ready at home, to The New Hope Lutheran Church, to The Sweet Water Country Club. A great reception location.
Christina and Coby’s album will be hand made with the finest leather. They care as much about hand binding their books as I do about creating images. If you ask me, they are one of the best book binders on the planet.

I’ve been bitten by the Blog Bug again!
Let me share a wedding album with you today. This was the first time I had ever photographed at The Vineyards of Waverly Manor before. Mary Elliot owns the facility and she has really done a fine job with the location.
April and Patrick were fantastic and easy going clients. Their outdoor wedding took place right at sunset which made for some great images. The bagpipe processional made for some interesting images as well.
Enjoy.

I can’t begin to tell you how many frantic inquiries I received over the past few months from couples wanting to reserve my services for their wedding on 7/7/7.
I’d like to think that it had something to do with the quality of my work, but I know that the real driving force was the once in a life time date of 7/7/7.
No…. it was my photography. I’m sure of it. ;)
I no longer discuss a date once it has been booked. I turned them all away, as I am only one man and I can only be at one place at one time. Courtney and Jason knew this and had the forethought to book my services over a year out.
The wedding was held at http://www.wumc.com Westminster United Methodist Church, and the reception was close by http://www.courtyardonstjames.com;The Courtyard on St. James
Please enjoy the album design for Courtney and Jason’s wedding, and the most popular wedding date of the century, created by The Master of Shadows.

If you purchased your album before your event, then production begins immediately after your online gallery has been created and your DVD has been shipped out to you. No extra effort is required on your part to begin production. You are not required to sift through the hundreds and often times thousands of images in an effort to meet a minimum quota of images required to design your book. Can you imagine the gargantuan effort required to edit your own wedding or Bar/Bat Mitzvah?
I am going to do all of that work for you. Once I have edited your event to what I feel are the strongest images, the design begins. On average I will have the design of your album completed within three weeks of your events end! When the album design is complete you are sent an email of the design for your approval. Upon your approval your should receive your finished album in 4 – 6 weeks time.
Below I have attached an album that was sent to a customer of Solaris just last week.

OK. It was last Friday and I was doing my thing in the studio photographing a family. I was in a zone. Moving from my camera to my clients to arrange the composition of the image I noticed some people standing in my studio.
I didn’t pay them any mind because I had worked so hard to get this family positioned just so, and a young child will only hold still for so long. I needed to get the shot, then I would address the visitors.
I take the shot, explain to my clients that I need a moment, and I introduce my self to the mystery couple. They proceed to explain that they are patients of the dentist next door to my studio, that they are engaged, and they wanted me to take their Engagement Portrait. I ask them to wait for a few minutes while I finish up my session. I made then each an espresso, sat them down at the conference table, and handed them some wedding albums to look at.
Once I finished with my family, I rejoined the couple. It was then I noticed the garment bag. Had Beth, my production manager, made an appointment for a session and failed to put it on the books? No. It turns out that the couple had forgotten the name of my studio, so they could not call me, and the dentist office was already closed so they couldn't ask them, so they just showed up, ready for a portrait session in hopes that I would be available.
I didn’t have another family to shoot for about three hours, so I took the assignment.
Can you call upon your talent at will? Can you deliver on a deadline? For me, these are two trademarks of a professional.
They went on to explain that the theme of their wedding was royalty, and as parting gifts for all of their guest they were having money made with their image on it! Way cool idea! So I immediately started thinking, when I think of a portrait on money, I see the faces in profile. So I had to come up with an image that screams love, engagement, and it needed to be in profile so they would look good on the coins that they were having made. I still can’t get over it. Their own money. Evidenttly there is a company out there that will take a digital photograph and transfer the image to a coin. At any rate…
So, here is the image that I came up with. Notice that I made sure to include her engagement ring. I turned the ring a bit sideways so it would be a bit more defined when the coin was struck. You will need to imagine a circular crop tight around their faces.

Hello all. I have been a bit slow in posting the past few days. My daughter, son, and wife are all sick so I am working overtime.
We just finished another fabulous wedding album design!

Let me start by saying that this post should be the first post for 9/1, but for some reason it has shown up as the second.
Today I am continuing my marathon of a wedding album a day for 10 days! This is day three. Yesterday I posted two albums, realizing that one of the albums was already on my site, so that was cheating on my part and I made up for it by posting a second album. Today’s post marks the third album and third day.

I really liked this wedding as it most definitely had some Texas flair to it. The final album will be arriving from the printers in about a week, and I am very excited to get it back.
